The Malta Tourism Authority (MTA) is pleased to announce the launch of the STR Licence Validator, a new online service designed to assist licence holders in verifying their Short-Term Rental (STR) registration number.
The STR Licence Validator enables users to quickly and securely retrieve their STR number using their existing MTA licence details.
The service is now available online and can be accessed at: https://validator.mta.com.mt/
MTA encourages all Short-Term Rental licence holders to make use of this service to verify their STR registration details and ensure that the correct STR number is used wherever required.

Further to the notice previously issued regarding the temporary suspension of the acceptance of new applications by the Development Unit within the Malta Tourism Authority (MTA), please be advised that the acceptance of new applications has been further postponed.
Accordingly, the Development Unit will only resume accepting new applications from Monday, 27 July 2026.
Information relating to the new application process, including the submission of new applications, extensions, and upgrades, will be published on the Malta Tourism Authority website in due course.
Architects, practitioners, and other stakeholders are requested to take note of the above and to inform any interested parties accordingly.
The Malta Tourism Authority thanks all stakeholders for their cooperation during the transition towards the implementation of the new legislative framework and regulations governing collective accommodation establishments.

Please note that, following the coming into force of the revised Tourism Accommodation Regulations (S.L. 409.24), new applications are currently not being accepted through licence.mta.com.mt.
To better understand the application requirements and licensing process, applicants are encouraged to visit https://mta.com.mt/licences/applications/.
The Malta Tourism Authority is currently implementing a new and enhanced Application Management System to provide a more modern, efficient, and user-friendly licensing experience, whilst ensuring compliance with the revised regulatory framework.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused and appreciate your patience and understanding during this transition period.

The Malta Tourism Authority has issued a circular outlining the new Tourism Accommodation Regulations, 2026, which introduce updated standards, operational requirements and application procedures for hotels, guest houses, hostels and other collective accommodation establishments.
The new requirements take effect from 15 June 2026. Operators of, and applicants for, collective tourism accommodation should review the circular for the full guidance.

The Malta Tourism Authority would like to inform you that invoice renewals will soon be issued. These will continue to be sent by email and by post.
In addition, you are invited to access the new MTA Client Portal, where you can view your invoices, access estimates, review your payment history and make payments via secure online payment gateways.

Kindly be advised that, as of 31 December 2025, the Malta Tourism Authority will no longer accept licence payments through licences.gov.mt or Local Council Offices.
This notice is being issued to ensure that all licence holders are fully informed of the discontinuation of these payment methods by the stated date.
