Diversity Management in Tourism

 ESF 2.78 Retaining and attracting people within tourism through Diversity Management

The ‘Tourism Diversity Employers Award’ is part of the project ‘Retaining and attracting people within tourism through Diversity Management’ which is co-financed through the European Social Fund.

This award aims to recognise tourism establishments who are considered to be exemplary in diversity management initiatives such as the implementation and monitoring of any innovative diversity practices within tourism organizations.

Retaining and attracting people within tourism through Diversity Management’ is aimed at identifying the issues affecting employability of workers within the tourism industry by addressing retention and recruitment challenges. This is being supported by: A set of research studies including a tracer study with tourism graduates both from the Tourism honours degree programme at the University of Malta and other courses provided by the ITS over a period of years, and a study on Diversity Management and its applicability to the tourism sector; A training programme on same concept and; An online resource portal all focusing on the concept of Diversity Management aimed to aid practitioners in their management fields.

The MTA recently held two half-day conferences as part of the programme ‘Retaining and attracting people within tourism through diversity management’ co-financed by the European Social Fund.
