Tourist Departures – December 2006
In December 2006, inbound tourists increased by 15.0 per cent compared to the same month a year ago, leading to an overall decrease of 4.0 per cent during the year 2006.

In December 2006, total tourist departures were estimated at 46,483, an increase of 15.0 per cent when compared to December 2005. This increase reflects primarily a rise in holiday makers mainly from the British (23.8%), Italian (10.3.2%) and Dutch (58.9%) markets. On the other hand, decreases were mainly recorded from France (-26.3%), Austria (-54.0%) and Norway (-73.6%).
Tourists departing by air were estimated at 46,083, an increase of 14.4 per cent when compared to December 2005.
January to December 2006
Total inbound tourists during 2006 reached 1,124,233, a decrease of 4.0 per cent compared to year 2005. This decrease mainly reflected fewer tourists from the UK (-10.6%), Germany (-9.0%) and France (-11.1%).
During this period, tourists from Italy, Russia and Denmark are estimated to have increased by 21.8%, 30.8% and 5.7% respectively.
Tourists departing by air were estimated at 1,104,269 also recording a drop of 4.0 per cent when compared to a year ago.
