Events organised by the MTA
The Events Division of the Communications and PR Directorate is engaged in events which are organised by MTA and by the Parliamentary Secretariat for Tourism. Many of these events are recurring from year to year such as : the In Guardia and Alarme re-enactments held at Fort St Elmo on Sundays throughout the year.
Other events which are held from year to year are : the George Cross Commemoration – April 15, the Malta International Fireworks Festival – April 29, 30 and World Tourism Day on September 27.
The Malta Tourism Authority was involved this year in the organisation of Citta’ Magica, a half day entertainment programme to entice people to enter and enjoy the city of Valletta on a Saturday. This event was held on 9th January. A Cribs Exhibition which was held in between December 17 and January 6 of this year is planned to be held next December and January. The Artisan Fair which should be taking place on each Friday / Saturday of every month in Merchants Street.
The Section is also engaged in other matters such as the regular art and photographic exhibitions held within the Auberge’s premises. A lot of assistance is provided to numerous Local Councils, private tourism related business concerns and other entities in the way of re-enactments by the In Guardia Unit as well as in other ways.
